hello, los angeles.
After a month in Los Angeles, I finished work on a third story I started last year for Nanowrimo. It was the third book following Cut and Staked. It’s got a working title, Cured, edits will start pretty quickly. I anticipate it being ready for Spring 2012.
It feels darker than the other two books and for a time I really hated that it had gone that direction. We’re back in New Orleans for this story and Matthieu makes an appearance since we didn’t see him in the last book. Rent and Octavius are reunited but not in the way anyone would expect. I guess the key idea here is that no one is ever 100% gone from Rent’s life.
I do have a funny story about my first week back in LA and how going down to the metro will never be the same. At one point one of the trains showed up completely dark and I noticed a few people getting on - I was shocked. I can understand needing to get from Point A to B but that could not be safe. Riding in a dark train car not knowing who you were riding with? No, thank you. I chose the car that was packed with the other smart people and plenty of light (albeit no air conditioning).
