Random musings…and procrastinating on pages.

I’ve been in the desert a month and tonight is the start of the Palm Springs Film Festival. I was told a few of the screenings are at my old high school. It makes me feel good to hear that so many people are going to the same place that I did…a small back story.

I was a nerdy art kid that kept to myself and spent the bulk of my time sitting outside the art room. When the door opened I would run in and grab a seat. I think that hour was probably the best of my day. Toward the end of high school I started to dread leaving that little cocoon and having to move on with my life. Some people would say that it was strange but for that one hour I could draw or paint and nothing else mattered.

One of the assignments was putting together a book. It could have any content but it had to tell a story. I bought an old book for 50 cents at a thrift store and read it. It was called The Lost Colony. I couldn’t tell you what it was about or read it again now that I’m older. Why, you ask? Well, because I painted and collaged every single page. The first book is an introduction to me and the remainder is devoted to my love for kmfdm, nine inch nails, Ewan McGregor and Brad Pitt. I believe there is also some very bad poetry. In fact I will make a separate post for you to read and cringe over. It’s funny looking back on it now that I wanted to write and paint for a living never once thinking that I would actually do it as a career.
