“I’ll have you know that house has been standing since 1879. It has weathered worse storms; no damned hurricane is going to bring it down. And for your information mold can be found in almost every house in America!” He’s laughing now as he tosses what is left of her home in the back of his truck.
“Get in, you’re making a scene,” he laughed as he walked over and lifted the box from her feet, “Who wears heels to recover from a flood?”
“I do,” she said in a low voice as she stared at the chartreuse kitten heels then headed for his truck.
